Scientific Writing Courses – Handcrafted and AI-Assisted

Do not assume your research speaks for itself.

My workshops
  • are highly interactive,
  • allow you to work on your own research topic
  • include tailored exercises in pairs and in group discussions
  • show you how to harness AI
  • imply individual appointments

Walk away with practical strategies to ensure your findings never sit idly in the literature.

How NOT to Write

“While promising evidence supporting the use of IDO1 inhibitors in breast cancer has demonstrated the translational potential of these findings, further interrogation of IDO1 regulatory mechanisms and the impact of Kynurenine on oncogenic signaling may present a novel candidate for metabolite-based stratification of breast cancer patients with prognostic and therapeutic value.”

Too often, scientific texts are dense and convoluted, despite the importance of the research. Readers have to undergo an enormous effort to understand what the author means and rather give up, frustrated.

How to Write

My workshops offer you practical strategies for clarity, conciseness, and conviction in your writing. You will learn to structure paragraphs and sentences effectively, to vary your vocabulary, and to use AI tools to support your process.

What sets my workshops apart is their highly interactive format. You are invited to bring your own research topic so you can tackle real-world challenges. We will discuss examples and exercises from your specific field, and you will collaborate in pairs and in group discussions, exchanging insights and feedback. Individual appointments with the trainer top the workshop off. This personalized approach ensures each participant builds confidence in their writing skills in a setting directly relevant to their work.

More Workshops

Successful Grant Proposal Writing

This course aims to convey professional scientific writing in grant proposals. Addressees are researchers who already have scientific writing experience. Participants will get an overview of the funding landscape and learn how to read the intentions of the funding authorities. Elaborate writing tools to bring across the excellence of scientific projects are provided, including practical writing exercises and revising.

Peer Review Training

This course is designed for researchers new to peer review. Participants will develop the skills to evaluate research papers with precision and provide insightful feedback. Drawing from the latest guidance from top science publishers, the course content ensures relevance and accuracy. Through practical guidance and interactive exercises, the aim is to foster engaging exchanges and empower participants with tangible skills.

How to Overcome Writer’s Block

“Writing about a writer’s block is better than not writing at all.” (Charles Bukowski). Timing, fear, perfectionism – reasons for a writer’s block are manifold. Participants learn strategies how to overcome the block in their head. Practical exercises are included.

Better Presentations

“The secret of boredom is to want to say everything.” (Voltaire). In this course, participants will learn how to present the most important content of their research in an exciting and vivid way. They will give a five-minute presentation and learn how to use their voice and body language convincingly. They will receive constructive feedback and practice dealing with questions and criticism
